If the au phone you use in Japan is not compatible with the GLOBAL PASSPORT overseas service areas, you can still use the GLOBAL PASSPORT service. Just remove the au IC Card from your au handset and insert it into a rental handset that supports the GLOBAL PASSPORT service.
